About Dr Alfonso Arias Puente

Dr Alfonso Arias Puente is a senior consultant ophthalmologist specialising in anterior segment and refractive eye surgery. He completed his medical degree at the Complutense University of Madrid, followed by specialist training in ophthalmology at Hospital Clínico San Carlos.His areas of expertise include: Cataract surgery including femtosecond laser assisted techniques, Refractive surgery including trifocal lens implantation, Anterior segment surgery, Complex lens replacement procedures.

Dr Arias Puente’s academic achievements include a PhD awarded with unanimous Cum Laude honours. He later achieved Fellowship of the European Board of Ophthalmology, further demonstrating his commitment to excellence in clinical practice. His international training at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and the Dr Luis Sánchez Bulnes Hospital in Mexico City broadened his clinical vision and shaped his patient centred, globally informed approach to eye surgery.
